"Motto: I paint realistic without looking back to the Old Masters"

Motto: I paint realistic without looking back to the Old Masters, the past or the academism. I create with traditional means as pen, pencil and brush a modern world on paper and canvas.
Born in Renkum in 1942, family flight Aug. 1944 in front of the house in Operation Market Garden is flat shot, to Amsterdam, followed by the Nicolaas Maes School, Vossius Gymnasium, 1956 move to   Heemstede, attended the Da Costa Kweekschool, refused military service, relocation to Amsterdam in 1967, government grant BKR 1968-1977, exhibited from 1966 to 1973 and from 1977 to 1979 as a regular exhibitor at Galerie Mokum, 1969 member BBK, 1969 member societeit Teisterbant, Haarlem, 1972 member Arti et Amicitiae 1974 member Pulchri Studio 1978 relocation Friesland, 1984-1985 member Fria, from 2003 to 2004 member Peinture Fraiche, 2004 Le Groupe member Nevers 2007 member Dutch Society of Illustrators, 2002 officially emigrated to France, exhibited between 1966 and 2016 more than 350 times its paintings, drawings and gouaches. Practiced between 1958 and 1995, three martial arts sports and in 1995 on his first 53 e-kyu kyokushinkai karate. The van der Wals own a house in France and in the Netherlands. Fred works in two studios in France en two in Holland. Between 2008 and 2014 11 paintings have been stolen from his studio in Holland.Fred lived from 1978-2003 in the northern part of Holland (Friesland) where his work was boycotted by government, colleagues and galleries. Friends with female  painter Isis Nedloni. In preparation for including short stories and wrote words for books of Isis Nedloni. Fred van der Wal is available at                                                                                                             9 artworks by Fred van der Wal present in the print room of the Stedelijk Musuem in Amsterdam, 13 work in the print room of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and dozens of works in the national collection ICN and in collections at home and abroad.The main collector of the works of Fred van der Wal are Mrs. M. de Muinck and Mrs. Bernardina Bosse.
